Story,
When we finally call a halt to the
unconscious way in which we have continued to deal with our language, a
long-winded, backward, utterly lying story comes to an abrupt end. Only when we
actually start to have Embodied Language (EL) do we come to the disconcerting
realization that we have been preoccupied with Disembodied Language (DL) for a
long time, in vain and unwillingly. One of the easily recognizable, oft-named,
traits of DL is that everyone supposedly has their own story. A story is a
monologue and every monologue gets in the way of conversation or dialogue. The
fact that millions of people, as adults, have continued to believe in childish
fairy tales has made us addicted to technology, which literally keeps us small
by allowing us to endlessly repeat our story .
In the past, before social media made its appearance,
people sometimes talked to each other and we could
still laugh, because many a nagging, coughed-up story
still seemed to contain a kind of core of truth.
Unfortunately, today even the most celebrated
comedian is bored to death because he or she is not
even allowed to talk about himself anymore, because,
it is said, there is a different, a new kind of people today,
who are not a man or appear to be a woman, but who
want to read stories to innocent children, in libraries or
in schools. However, there are also many other artists
who preach their interpretation of the reality with their
so-called arts. It is sometimes said of them, after they
die of an overdose, after they are found to have some
so-called mental illness or have attempted suicide, that
behind their facade of fame and success there is a whole
story.
If you just wanted to talk to someone in
the old-fashioned way again, you would immediately encounter resistance, which
can always be traced back to what is nowadays called a narrative. This is the
obligatory story that people tell themselves and each other from faith,
politics, science, culture and, let's not forget, from our sexuality, sex or gender.
The narrative that always predominates about sex is supposedly
exclusively about physical characteristics, but the anecdotes we tell
ourselves and each other about our gender refer to an amalgamation of social,
cultural or psychological characteristics, associated with our biology. Surely,
the ability to step out of our story has dropped to a true zero point. Everyone
is hopelessly stuck in DL.
If we are to believe it – and we must
believe it with DL – a story has a moral and so we suppose there would be
something for us to learn. Nothing could be further from the truth. We have
been endlessly dragged along by the various stories, which are of no personal
significance to us, but which we are only able to let go of if we realize with EL,
that we have continued to repeat those old legends with DL.
Regardless of what we keep telling
ourselves and each other, we've never really truly succeeded in stopping our DL
and thus leaving our stories behind so that we could talk to each other. This made
us vulnerable to believing in stories about salvation. DL is happening
everywhere and any attempt to have EL and thus to make real contact ends up in
some dull, uninteresting, nasty story. Even though we suffer enormously from
our fanatical, habitual, compulsive
belief in what we have continued to tell ourselves and each other, it is quite
remarkable we still believe, we have created those horror stories ourselves.
With DL, however, we do not create anything ourselves, but we live completely
from our conditioning, which means, in one way or another, we just end up doing
what we were told. Only if we can continue with EL, is it possible to create
and stabilize our own reality with our own language. That stabilization,
ushered in by EL, is our Language Enlightenment (LE), our true nature, which
through us, with EL, can finally come into its own. LE is not some children's story we
tell ourselves, but our mature, deliberate, joyful skill to be able to continue with our EL.
